Hot Sauce Review: Dawson’s Cedar Smoked Garlic

If you’re a fan of hot sauce, you’ve likely heard of Hot Ones, the web series that challenges celebrities to eat progressively spicier wings while answering interview questions. One of the sauces featured in Season 17 was Cedar Smoked Garlic from Dawson’s Hot Sauce.

This sauce has gained a reputation for its unique smoky flavor and manageable heat, making it a popular choice among hot sauce enthusiasts. In this review, we’ll take a closer look at what makes Cedar Smoked Garlic stand out and whether it lives up to the hype.

Hot Sauce Review: Local Talent Pineapple Mango Habanero

Back at it again in 2023 with a review for one of my favourite Canadian hot sauce makers. This is Pineapple Mango Habanero from Local Talent Hot Sauce.

I opened this bottle on New Year’s Eve to share with a few friends over some wings. I think they made a good choice when choosing this sauce.

Pineapple Mango Habanero is a sweet, saucy, and spicy addition to any meal that needs a kick. With its colour as vibrant as the taste, this hot sauce is a knock-out for sure.

Roothams Gourmet Ontario Red Crimson Hot Sauce Review

Ontario Red Crimson Hot Sauce by Rootham’s Gourmet is a Sriracha-style sauce made with locally grown ingredients. This hot sauce is great for those who prefer the mild side of the spicy life. There is not too much heat but plenty of flavour.

With a consistency similar to ketchup, Red Crimson is great for both coating and dipping. I especially enjoyed this one with some carrots and celery.

Hot Sauce Review: Ruthless Hot Sauce Habanero

I found a bottle of Habanero sauce by Ruthless Hot Sauce at a Farmboy in Kingston, Ontario. It was the only one on the shelf made in Canada so I picked one up to try.

This is an onion and carrot-based hot sauce that tastes quite a bit like mulligatawny soup.

It is not very spicy and has a somewhat bland, watery taste. While it doesn’t taste bad, it is definitely not on my list of favourite hot sauces.

Front St Heat + Front St Fire Hot Sauce Review

Front St Heat claims to be Canada’s premium hot sauce, but is it true? Maybe if you’re only comparing grocery store hot sauces. While Front St Heat and Fire are both pretty decent sauces, I don’t think they can compete with many of the amazing hot sauce makers in Canada.

Don’t get me wrong, Front St Heat and Fire both taste pretty darn good. They just fall into a different category for me. Front St Heat is more of a spicy pizza sauce or a dipper. Front St Fire is closer to a BBQ sauce or a great marinade.

Melinda’s Trinidad Moruga Scorpion Pepper Sauce Review

Melinda’s Hot Sauce as been a common element in my spicy journey through life. When I was younger, Melinda’s was the first hot sauce at the grocery store that wasn’t Frank’s or Tabasco. Naturally, I was really excited when I found out they made a Scorpion Pepper Sauce.

It has that classic Melinda’s flavour but with the sharp sting of the scorpion pepper. You definitely won’t be disappointed if you love incredibly hot sauces that don’t make you keel over and convulse.

Marie Sharp’s Original Hot Habanero Hot Sauce Review

A simple yet delicious Habanero hot sauce from Marie Sharp’s in Belize. This hot sauce is a great example of the type of hot sauce you should always keep in your fridge.

It is hot but not too hot so you don’t need to worry about stinging the tongues of your fellow diners.

In terms of flavour, this one is pretty neutral which makes it a good all-around hot sauce. You can taste the carrots which are used as a base but the flavour blends well with most meals.

The habaneros used for heat are fruity and flavourful as well as spicy.

If you can find this one at your local grocery store it is well worth a try!

Pineapple And Red Habanero THC Hot Sauce Review

Well, we finally have it here in Canada, THC infused hot sauce. Since Canada legalized cannabis in 2018, we have seen a plethora of new cannabis products. I knew someone would infuse hot sauce, it was just a matter time.

Heartbeat Hot Sauce and Bogarts Kitchen have teamed up to create a legal THC hot sauce for Canada’s cannabis market. So far there are two flavours: Red Habanero and Pineapple Habanero. Both staples of the Heartbeat Hot Sauce collection.

Here is what they taste like!

Lost In The Sauce (LITS) OG Boodoo Hot Sauce Review

OG Boodoo by Lost In The Sauce (LITS) is a tomato-based hot sauce made with Scotch Bonnet, Habanero, and Jamaican peppers. I’ll be honest, I’m not a fan of tomatoes in hot sauce, I find it always tastes like spicy ketchup.

While OG Boodoo does taste like spicy ketchup, it does have a unique quality that sets it apart from other tomato-based sauces.

Made In Texas: Yellowbird Habanero Hot Sauce Review

Straight from Texas is Yellowbird Habanero Condiment, a super tasty, straight-to-the-point hot sauce. If you’re into a spicy sauce with a simple flavour, this one is for you.

This hot sauce truly is a condiment and the squeeze bottle helps slather it on everything. I was enjoying this habanero sauce on sausages, pizza, fries (especially awesome), and even salads and veggies.

Inside the bottle you’ll find a sweet and savoury sauce with real habanero heat.
